This weekend was amazing. :)
What's that? What did I do?
Oh, I only hung out with the BF in nature all weekend. It was great, I was completely unplugged from reality. No cell reception, which meant no FB, no phone calls, no text messages, no songpop, nada. Just me, him, the stars, the river, and smiles. Tons of smiles.
I met the mama as well, and absolutely adore her. She's so sweet, and has a good sense of humor. Plus she's a Harry Potter fan, and that, in my book, is all that needed to be said. :) If you're a Harry PotterHead, we're good. She made some yummy pancakes and perfect bacon for breakfast Saturday morning.
Friday night T and I spent the night next to a bonfire and under the stars. I think I saw a UFO, he says I didn't, but dammit, I think I did...Air Force fighters, satellites, and meteors don't move like that! ;)
Saturday was definitely an adventure!
We started the day off with a full tummy, compliments of Mama H, who then drove us up the road a little ways. We put the canoe in the river (and I'm happy to report that as a first timer, I did NOT fall out of the canoe when I stepped in! All this jogging is really improving my balance I do believe), and started out. We hit a shoal and got turned over about an hour or so into the trip. The water swept us away and I enjoyed every minute of it. I cackled laughing the whole time I was being pushed downstream (and raked across rocks) by the force of the water. We got back in the canoe once we made it to a quiet area on the bank, and I turned to T and said "we HAVE to go white water rafting now..." We lost 1 paddle, my shirt (I had on my bikini, so I wasn't topless you dirty filthy bastards!!), both my flip flops, and our water bottles. We found my shirt, 1 water bottle, 1 flip flop, and most importantly - the paddle. The next two shoals weren't as bad, but, ever the gentleman, T got out and navigated us through it so we wouldn't capsize again. Bless him. :) We passed his house and went downstream just a ways to a little island. Where we ran the canoe up, and got out to swim. There was a rope swing, and T took a couple turns on it, but couldn't persuade me to.
Once we got back to his house, and took a quick hot shower (which felt great after being in cold, to me at least, river water all day), we hung out for a few minutes, and then headed home to Charleston. I snuck a peak at my toe (I guess you could say it's my ring toe, lol, because it's the toe that is equivalent to your ring finger) because for some reason it had been hurting something awful when I was walking. Well, it was purple and swollen. Probably not a good sign. Later that night at home, in bed, I finally realized "oh shit, I DID break my toe!" Now, it looks like a swollen, purple, little sausage link. I have a sausage toe. Needless to say, I have it taped to my middle toe, and I'm keeping it elevated, and on ice.
We had dinner at Tidewater (yummmm) that night, and I had some amazing lobster ravioli. Perfect ending to a perfect weekend with my man. :)
Unfortunately, the sausage toe is going to have me down and out as far as jogging goes this week. Which sucks, 1) because I hate to take a week off jogging and let my body get lazy (even though I'll be doing other exercises at home), and 2) it just means I have to REALLY watch what I eat this week - and mom is making my favorite dinner ever tomorrow too - calf liver and onions :( No that is not sarcasm, I really do LOVE me some liver and onions. I'll do a post on my favorite foods that other people find odd some other time (which includes the prior, and chicken livers, as well as chicken hearts).
Anyway, after the sausage toe incident, I still would redo this weekend in a heartbeat, broken toe and all. I'll be happy to report that I'm smitten. Happy as a clam, and dumbfounded over what I've done in life to deserve such an awesome guy. Maybe in my past life I was Mother Theresa or something, or Joan of Arc.
I'd rather be Lady Godiva, risqué, but for a good cause ;)
