Allie & The Sausage Toe

This weekend was amazing. :)

What's that? What did I do?

Oh, I only hung out with the BF in nature all weekend. It was great, I was completely unplugged from reality.  No cell reception, which meant no FB, no phone calls, no text messages, no songpop, nada.  Just me, him, the stars, the river, and smiles.  Tons of smiles.

I met the mama as well, and absolutely adore her.  She's so sweet, and has a good sense of humor. Plus she's a Harry Potter fan, and that, in my book, is all that needed to be said.  :) If you're a Harry PotterHead, we're good.  She made some yummy pancakes and perfect bacon for breakfast Saturday morning.

Friday night T and I spent the night next to a bonfire and under the stars.  I think I saw a UFO, he says I didn't, but dammit, I think I did...Air Force fighters, satellites, and meteors don't move like that! ;)

Saturday was definitely an adventure!

Allie & Headphones, Playlists, and...what's that?

Alcohol.  Yes, that's right, the title is headphones, playlists, and everyone's favorite demon...Booze.

I'm definitely feeling the effects of last night's Girls Night Out event.  Granted, it was for an amazing cause (the YWCA Resolve program that assists families/individuals that are victims of domestic violence), all the free booze that was flowing really took it's toll on me today.  "But....I only had THREE drinks...." What I forget is, with lapband, my tolerence level isn't as great as it used to be.  I used to be able to take shot after shot of tequila and party the night away like some crazed sorority girl.  Now, not so much.  My limit is 2 drinks or else I end up feeling like 9 kinds of death the next day.  Luckily I only feel like 1 kind of death today...the headache kind.  1500mg of Tylenol later and I'm feeling fine, just sluggish and tired, being at work for 8 hours is just an *added bonus* to it all.

Headphones.  I'm the type of girl who, when she finds something amazing, will share it with anyone who is interested (well, not everything...a girl has to have some things to herself...like an amazing recipe, or a great man).  When I started the Run5K program, I was using plain old earbuds with a cord, because while I'm always willing to share the where and how much of a great purchase, I'm also a cheap bitch.  I didn't see the point in running out to buy $50 headphones made for joggers, because I would have kicked my own ass if I'd spent that much money on an activity that I ended up hating.  Once I realized that I loved running, I decided it was time to spend the money (even though I still think they were over priced).  The pair I decided on were Motorola S10-HD bluetooth headphones with telephone capabilities.  So if I get a call while I'm jogging, I can answer it and make people think the heavy breathing is "something else."  Anyway, here's a link to the headphones @ Amazon if you're interested.  They really are amazing, contrary to what the reviews say, I haven't had a problem with them falling off my head (and I have a normal sized noggin), they stay in my ears, and I sweat like a pig when I run and haven't had any issues with them not working due to the sweat.  So, if you have a small-normal-large sized melon, and either don't sweat, sweat a little, or none at all, I'm pretty sure you'll be fine.

Allie & The Inability to Sleep

Can't sleep, so I thought I would update real quick. ;)
Wednesday night I started week 4 of Run5k and at first, when I looked at the game plan, I thought "holy shit...I might die after this week." Obviously I didn't, but I really had to push myself at first. The app slowly built me up from running 3 minutes to running a total of 5 minutes. I was surprised at how easy it came to me once I just got into a rhythm. Of course it helps if you have the right music to pound the pavement to. This week I've been playing my "Body Movin" playlist. Which is pretty great to keep me motivated, but my favorite song on there to just blare as loud as it will go while I'm sweating is Hair of The Dog by Guns & Roses. Look it up...it's worth it.  I went to the YWCA Girl's Night Out event tonight with a good friend. Had a great time and some good drinks. I was too po' to be there since every auction started at $1000 lol. I still had a fun time, especially since it was a last minute plan. :) thanks J!

*side note - Shannon Doherty must get some sort of residual checks from her 90210 days...why hasn't she fixed that gap?! (sorry that online college commercial of her's came on, and I got side tracked).

Allie & The Obligatory "Get To Know Me" First Post...

Hey there, I'm Allie, a former over weight couch potato.  On July 2, 2008 I had the lab band procedure to assist in my weight loss journey, and oh, what a journey it has been!  I began at 254 lbs, and as of August 8, 2012 have lost approximately 100 lbs.  February 2012 I had my tummy tuck, and breast reduction.  While I still have more to lose, I am pleased to say that I am finally comfortable in my body, thanks to my amazing doctors, the constant love and support from my family, and my willpower to be healthy.  I downloaded the Run5K app on my iPhone, and every M/W/F I take an hour to myself (well, not just to myself…my bff TV, her hubby JV, and my boyfriend TH are with me, but I’m alone with my thoughts…that counts right?) in the evenings, put those headphones on, and jog until the robotic voice tells me to stop.  I never, in my entire life, thought I would fall in love with jogging (and to all you doubters, I'm living proof), but I have! I miss it on the days that I'm not doing it, and I pray for time to go by faster on the days I do go out to the track.
